Think Tank

Students in Think Tank enjoy projects involving writing, reading, and drawing. They simulated an oil spill and wrote about the negative, expensive consequences of polluting the ocean.

They adopted MJ, Marshall Junior , The Sea Turtle! They selected a turtle online and paid to save its life and protect it from dangerous situations. Adopted turtles are kept in the wildlife preserves, away from man made pollution.

Video Editing

Students in morning computer in session one are editing videos using YouTube’s video editor. It is very fun. You can take different videos of the rainforest on YouTube and take the parts you want of each video and put them together to make a new video. You can also add sound and make the different videos you put together fade in and out when they change from video to video.

Language Arts

In language arts, students write poems, stories, and haiku. Students learn why protecting the ocean is so important, and write creative stories to teach the lesson to others. They write poems about the deep blue ocean and practice developing powerful imagery in their writing. A special type of poem is a haiku, where each line has a specific number of syllables. After a summer of language arts, your writing jumps off the page and creates unforgettable images for the reader.
