Exciting Changes for 2015!

Project Think at the Claremont Colleges

April 7, 2015

We have exciting news.  Project Think is moving back to the Claremont Colleges (Scripps College) celebrating 35 years of high quality enrichment programs for children. Along with having classes on the college campus, credentialed teachers, and engaging activities, there are a few other new opportunities. Afternoon swim students will travel (1.4 miles) on licensed school busses to the Claremont High School pool for a small additional fee. Additionally, students passionate about computers can now take a new afternoon class that focuses on the latest technology - digital design. Video Game Design and MinecraftEdu Explorations!

In this afternoon program the 4th – 8th grade children will learn to design and build a video game from scratch! Using MinecraftEdu (the education version) students will engage in digital storytelling as they create a rainforest program using the elements of computer design.

As in the past, we will have an assembly each session with visiting exotic rainforest animals, a mystery animal of the week, and Family Night—the open house at the end of the session where families can visit the classrooms and see streaming videos of the Project Thinkers engaged in their classes.  We look forward to seeing your child(ren) again this summer.  Please complete your application soon ... We anticipate a full summer with our new location and class offerings!

First Session African Experience Assembly

June 27, 2013

Three guests from Zimbabwe (Mr. and Mrs. Manuel Khumalo and a family friend)  played the drum, sang, and led the Project Thinkers in dance. They shared stories about the culture and even taught the children some of the language.

The African Spur Tortoise also visited Project Think at the assembly on Africa.  He was the mystery animal of the week June 27, 2013 and was 80 lbs., 10 years old, and the third largest species of tortoise in the world!

First Session Australian Assembly

June 21, 2013

Guest speaker Tony Guglielmo brought boomerangs and played the didgeridoo for Project Thinkers as he shared about Australian cultures. Dr. Susan Warren, Project Think Co-director and Founder, brought Jojo, an Australian cockatoo to the assembly.  He was the mystery animal of the week.
